Don’t give up on yourself.
Don’t give up on yourself.
I believe in New Year, new me. I also believe in new month, new week, and even new minute...new me. Every moment is a chance to take a step in the direction you want to go. So, you want to scream new year, new me? Do it. However, before we make a change, we usually have to imagine and dream differently.
High Five: Your 5 Tips to Make the Vision Real
Make Goals Matter
What tends to happen when our goal is something we don't want nor care about? We likely don't reach that goal or end up a little miserable. But when a goal matters to us, we find more readily that same energy we had when we set it to keep pushing to reach it.
Make Goals True
What do you want? Be it for your business, career, family, yourself, or community…let it be true for you. Not what you think you should want, not what everybody else wants, not what feels the safest, but the truest.
Make Goals feasible
Feasible and safe aren't always the same. Let's take the example of a marathon. If you don't have any health conditions, it's feasible that you can run one even if you never have.* (Yes, YOU.) Trying to do so tomorrow would not be safe or feasible if you can't walk around the block. But to say you never could run a marathon is playing it safe. Don't do that with your goals. (*Check with your doctor before attempting to run a marathon.)
Make Goals Happen Slowly
No, this doesn't mean putting off goals often and working towards them only when you feel like it. Instead, make goals manageable so that you can keep the energy to make them real. It's like creating a relationship. You got to build. The act of building gives substance and significance. Remember, step by step.
Make Goals Pressing
I get it. Putting a timeline on our goals can get a little stressful. Who needs stress? To some extent, we all do. You can get anxious, or you get excited. Your body can't tell the difference anyway. But if you want to increase the chances of reaching your goal, set a date.
